Innovative IT in practice
Because security-related aspects also play a major role here, we cannot go into too much detail when describing the implemented solutions. Perhaps this small insight will nevertheless show you the wide range of projects that can be realized when specialist knowledge is combined with an innovative spirit.
The goal of this order was the large-scale production of 1U servers for global delivery and use. The customer wanted a software installation that was up-to-the-minute, individual hardware branding and, of course, all the necessary international certifications and legal approvals.
Our solution
For this major project, we set the necessary course for successful implementation during the planning phase. A detailed evaluation of the required hardware components with a subsequent test phase led to an initial prototype, which was further optimized after evaluation by the customer. This approach allowed us to remain flexible during later phases of the project and make modifications to the hardware as needed. Once final approval was received, we launched the manufacturing phase in cooperation with several partner companies. For quality assurance and the installation of the customer's images on the servers, we set up our own infrastructure, which enabled efficient serial production.
We were asked to implement a custom appliance based on Raspberry Pi. In addition to securing all country-specific certifications, design was a high priority: The product required a custom manufactured case as well as a high-quality packaging design. Hardware branding in accordance with the customer's corporate design specifications rounded off this ambitious project.
Our solution
Our 3D printing partner could really get creative with this order. In cooperation with our local partners, we developed a unique design for the appliance's packaging. After numerous test runs, we presented a prototype to the customer, which immediately received approval for series production. We planned and designed the housing in our on-site laboratory, where it also was subject to our internal quality assurance. Finally, several qualified test houses performed the necessary testing for acquiring the desired certifications.
This order required us to find a solution for various systems – a challenge that offered us diverse possibilities for realization while demanding utmost power and performance in the tightest of spaces. Numerous elements of the chassis had to be designed and manufactured in-house as well as all slot plates for the integration of additional cards. The client's highly visible logo, which required separate illumination, added the finishing touches to this challenging project.
Our solution
We approached this complex and multi-layered task with an extended prototype phase. This allowed us to meticulously test and adjust the numerous variables. Based on these results, we collaborated with the customer and all partners involved to design a hardware solution that met or exceeded all requirements. The customer received modified access to our online shop allowing for the straightforward configuration of the new appliance. In this case, the key to successful implementation was the large number of test runs in which we were able to iteratively optimize and perfect the appliance. This incremental approach was made possible by our in-house resources in technology and know-how. Using processes developed specifically for this customer, we were able to coordinate the required workflows in production and quality assurance with maximum efficiency.
This project presented us with the challenge of providing a passively cooled industrial PC with customer-specific branding. It required a high-quality and aesthetic packaging as well as the production of custom front and back panels with special printing. Various labels should reflect the most important information about the hardware units. And to ensure the best possible technical compatibility, the systems should be equipped and licensed with the customer's own image before delivery.
Our solution
In this project, we leaned on our partners in the region to meet the high demands on design and aesthetics. The concept for the front and back panels was created in-house, while the manufacturing and printing of the components and boxes was handled by external partners. This was done in a timely manner and with exceptional quality. In addition, we also made adjustments to the hardware and replaced the standard network ports with alternative models as requested by the customer. Finally, we set up our own label printer specifically for this project to ensure efficient labeling with assured quality.
