Smart meters – The intelligent electricity meter
Lower your energy costs with smart metering
- Accuracy: The more frequently the meter is read, the more precise your consumption data analysis will be. This enables you to better understand and optimize your consumption.
- Prompt detection of load peaks: By regularly reading the meter, energy consumption peaks can be detected immediately, preventing possible overloads.
- Data visualization: With tools such as Grafana, the collected data can be visualized and easily understood. This allows you to see where savings are possible at a glance and take appropriate measures.
- Tailored evaluation: You can evaluate your total consumption or the consumption of individual appliances or machines. This not only helps to reduce costs, but also increase efficiency.
- Convenience: We take care of the technology – you take care of your core business. All you have to do is get in touch with us.
With the right resource management, you can save on costs while protecting the environment. We are happy to help you increase your energy efficiency and reduce your electricity costs.
Difference between smart meters and smart meter gateways
A smart meter is simply a digital meter. As a stand-alone product, this can do little more than its analog predecessor apart from the digital display. The great advantage of the modern meter is that you can now connect your machines and devices to it individually and thereby precisely evaluate energy consumption. A variety of options are available for data transmission. For example, the data from the meter can be read directly via a USB interface and transferred directly to your local network via LAN,WLAN or LoRa-WAN.
Do smart meters only work with electricity meters?
Currently, smart meters are most often used in connection with electricity meters. However, their application can be expanded to include many other areas. For example, LoRa-WAN measurement sensors can also be used to evaluate electrical consumption directly at individual machines. Thanks to their Plug&Play capability, various sensors can be connected to the network.
For example, we have already installed a smart meter that measures water levels at a fish ladder. Other applications coming soon:
- Gas meters
- Water meters
- And much more
- Indoor air measurement
- CO and CO2 measurement

Never before has the availability and supply of energy been such a hot topic. In order to remain competitive in the future, it is essential for companies to have a precise overview of their own energy consumption. In this case study, you will learn how we, together with our technology partner IFOX, have developed a new sensor system based on LoRaWAN that allows us to keep an eye on our energy consumption at all times.
